Welcome to my homepage. This is a site primarily dedicated to the promotion of my book, The Casino of Master Rule, first in a series of stories exploring the lifestyle and society of modern vampires.
Over the years I have consumed a lot of vampire fiction in a variety of different formats and have since developed very specific ideas both about how vampires should work as well as what constitutes a good vampire story. You’ll be able to get a fairly good sense of what those ideas are on other pages but the key thing to note is that I don’t do emo-vamps, hero-vamps or science-vamps. This isn’t to say that the sources within which those character types appear are bad fiction; I simply disagree with how the individual writer has chosen to portray vampires. There is in fact a large amount of vampire fiction out there that I have considered to be well written, with interesting characters and compelling plotlines, but still ended up disliking simply because that particular writer does not have a view of vampires that relates well with my own. I may have thought it was a good story, just not that it was a good vampire story. Though judging by the number of times I’ve had the “vampires and sunlight” argument, I’ve come to realize there are a fair number of people out there who wouldn’t much appreciate my view of vampires either.
Having said that, I didn’t write this book for everyone. I wrote it for myself and for the people that share my vision of The Damned – for those that hunger to see vampires pulled back from the realm of fluffy fantasy and returned to their rightful place as hunters of the night. If you like the idea of vampires as beings of incredible beauty and power, as seducers and deceivers fueled by passion, greed and lust, as callous fiends who do whatever it takes to achieve their goals regardless of the moral implications, and most especially as terrifying nocturnal predators for whom your only use is as entertainment or food then this may be the kind of vampire story you’ve been looking for.
